Ramos’ 16 powers Hokkaido; Kiefer’s 21 not enough as Shiga slides
MANILA, Philippines – After absorbing twin blowout losses to Ray Parks and the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins last weekend, Dwight Ramos and the Levanga Hokkaido bounced back big and vented their ire on the Ibaraki Robots with a 93-80 win in the Japan B. League on Wednesday, October 26.
It was a total team effort for the Levanga in their 13-point victory as six players ended up scoring in double figures, with Ramos leading the charge with a team-high 16 points, on top of 8 rebounds and 3 assists.
Meanwhile, Kiefer Ravena’s offensive explosion went down the drain as the Shiga Lakes bowed to the Shimane Susanoo Magic, 87-63.
Ravena scored a game-high 21 points on an efficient 8-of-12 shooting, to go along with 1 rebound, 3 assists, and 2 steals for the Lakes, who suffered their fifth straight loss.
In Division 2, Jordan Heading continued his solid play for the Nagasaki Velca as they cruised past the Bambitious Nara, 100-82.
Heading finished in double-digits for the sixth straight game, tallying 17 points on 4-of-8 clip from three-point land, together with 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.
Like Heading, Kobe Paras sustained his fiery form for the Altiri Chiba in their 85-80 overtime escape of the Koshigaya Alphas.
Despite missing the potential game-winning triple at the end of regulation, Paras still had a decent outing for the streaking Altiri – who captured their fifth straight win – as he racked up 14 points and 4 rebounds.
Gilas Pilipinas stalwarts Ramos, Parks, and Ravena brothers Kiefer and Thirdy are expected to be back in the Philippines next week as Division 1 of the B. League will have a three-week break to give way for the upcoming FIBA window.
Heading, Paras, and the rest of the Division 2 Filipino imports, meanwhile, will only enjoy a week of rest before returning to action in the first weekend of November.
