Report: Tottenham want to announce record-breaking deal before Christmas
Football Insider have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur hope to announce a new stadium naming rights deal before Christmas.
It has been three and a half years since Spurs first moved into the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but the club are yet to strike a deal with a naming rights partner.
It emerged last Monday that the North London club had entered into meaningful talks with Google over the naming rights for their home ground (The Athletic).
The Times subsequently revealed that Tottenham are looking to strike a deal worth around £25m a year for their 62,850-seater arena, and have also held talks with the likes of Uber, FedEx and Amazon.
According to reports, if Spurs do secure such a partnership, that would be a world-record deal, beating out Manchester City’s naming-rights deal with Etihad, which is valued at £21.9m a year (Evening Standard).
Football Insider have now claimed that Daniel Levy and co hope to have a world-record deal agreed upon by Christmas, with Google and Amazon said to be the two frontrunners.
It is explained that an announcement before the festive period would particularly suit Amazon, whose flagship streaming product is the full complement of Premier League Boxing Day fixtures.
It is also said that the winter break would be the perfect time for Tottenham to sort out the logistics and technology surrounding getting the sponsor physically displayed at the stadium.

I do wonder if Tottenham’s previous ties with Amazon from the All or Nothing series which was produced a couple of years ago, would work in the company’s favour during negotiations.
I would personally be surprised if a deal is agreed upon before Christmas as Levy will not be in a hurry, and would be determined to get the highest possible figure.
