The biggest gainers ahead of the open were shares of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. , which climbed 2.9% after reported better-than-expected third-quarter results, and of Salesforce Inc. , which also rallied 2.9%. The most active Dow stock was Apple Inc.'s , which rose 1.7%, while the worst performer was Merck & Co. Inc.'s stock , which tacked on 0.5%. Dow futures surged 479 points, or 1.6%, after the Dow ran up 551 points on Monday with 29 of 30 components gaining ground.
