The world economy could face the threat of a recession next year, World Bank President David Malpass and International Monetary Fund head Kristallina Georgieva said, Reuters reported.
The World Bank and the IMF said there is a real risk that the global economy could face a recession next year. According to Fitch’s forecast, the eurozone and the UK will enter recession before the end of the year.
“[There is] the risk and real danger of a global recession next year. Developed economies in Europe are slowing down. Let’s see where it goes next year,” David Malpass said in a joint conversation with the head of the International Monetary Fund, Kristallina Georgieva (TASS quote).
“I fully agree with you that the risk of a recession has increased,” Georgieva told him.
