ASCOT Champions Day looks set to bring the curtain down in style of another stellar Flat season.
And a whole host of superstars are expected to take their place following Monday’s latest confirmations.
Sun Racing has two picks for this Saturday’s Ascot Champions Day – one of the biggest dates in the calendar[/caption]Baaeed, the world’s best horse, is the headline act in the Champion Stakes.
But at 1-4 he is hardly a punting proposition – unless being used to add extra oomph to some accas.
Instead, Sun Racing has scoured the racecards and can up with two much more appealing options at decent prices.
In the first one, I look at the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at 3.20.
And I can report that confidence is growing in the William Knight camp that CHECKANDCHALLENGE can lay down the gauntlet in this money-spinning contest.
Inspiral is the short-priced favourite but take out John Gosden’s filly and the race lacks some depth.

Knight has been buoyed by his stable star’s work on the Newmarket gallops and at 20-1 – and with form on all sounds of ground and Jim Crowley booked – that represents great value.
Elsewhere, I’m looking at the Champions Sprint at 2.00.
And I have noticed that BRAD THE BRIEF is going under the radar.
He has been off the track since winning a Curragh Group 2 in May but goes well fresh and this race has seen plenty of outsiders strike.
Back him at 14-1 to do a job with red-hot David Egan in the saddle.
Away from the flat, I can also bring you a bit of gossip from Paul Nicholls’ yard.
OWNER Malcolm Denmark has taken his horses from Paul Nicholls and sent them to Nicky Henderson, Fergal O’Brien and Willie Mullins.
Staying chaser Next Destination didn’t see the track last season, let alone make up into the Gold Cup contender he had been touted as, and Denmark obviously had the hump.
The Nice Guy won the Albert Bartlett for Denmark and Mullins and that success has clearly shown Denmark the grass might be greener elsewhere.
