Primary school evacuated after smoke seen billowing from roof
A PRIMARY school has been evacuated after a fire ripped through classrooms.
Photos show huge plumes of smoke billowing out of the Welsh primary school after the fire broke out this afternoon.
Staff and pupils at Manorbier Church in Wales VC School in Tenby are ‘safe’, according to a statement from Pembrokeshire Council.

The school asked parents to collect their children following the fire.
A statement from the local council said: ‘We are aware of a fire at Manorbier School and can confirm that all children and staff are safe.’
It added: ‘Parents and carers are asked to collect learners from Buttyland Caravan Park using Norchard Lane route as usual route to the school is currently closed.’
Damian Brown, who owns Buttyland, next to the school, said he saw the fire and rushed to help.
He told the BBC: ‘We just saw the smoke billowing from the school and I ran straight up there.
‘In fairness the school teachers had done an amazing job and all the pupils were outside.
‘The school roof has completely gone and it looks like property next to school has gone as well.’
One mum of a pupil at the school, said on Facebook: ‘The teachers coped amazingly getting the kids safe.
‘They are a credit to the school, it must have been so frightening.
‘But when I picked my boy up they were doing a great job of keeping the children calm and distracted.’
