Journalist provides contract update on Inter Milan defender linked with Spurs
Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has said that Inter Milan will offer a new contract to rumoured Tottenham target Milan Skriniar over the coming days.
Plenty has been written about Skriniar’s future recently, with the centre-back’s current contract at the San Siro running out next summer (Transfermarkt).
FCInterNews reported a month ago that Spurs could look to swoop for the Slovak in January if he does not agree on a new deal with Inter before then.
The Sun subsequently claimed that Antonio Conte’s men could face competition from Manchester City and Chelsea for the defender’s signature.
Gazzetta dello Sport reported two weeks ago that the Inter hierarchy are in contact with Skriniar’s entourage regarding a new contract, and added that should the 27-year-old not sign a new deal, with Nerazzurri would be open to selling him for around €20m-€25m (£18.1m-£22.7m) in January.
Di Marzio has now revealed that Simone Inzaghi’s men will offer a salary of around €6m-€6.5m (£5.2m-£5.7m) per year to the centre-back, which he explains falls well short of what PSG were willing to offer the player in the summer.
Di Marzio said (as relayed by Sempre Inter): “The offer will be for around €6-6.5 million net per season. And if the player asks for what PSG offered him in the summer, it’s clear that no agreement can be found.
“We’ll have to see whether the player decides to pledge his loyalty to Inter, as the club has always shown trust in him. We’ll see if it’s just a question of money.”

Everything Skriniar has said publicly over the last couple of years, indicates that he would be happy to stay at Inter Milan.
It seems like it was the club’s hierarchy who were contemplating cashing in on the defender to relieve their financial owes, rather than the player himself pushing for a move.
So, the likelihood is that Skriniar will put pen to paper on a new contract at the San Siro.
