Bruno Fernandes has revealed that he wants to stay at Manchester United for a long time.
He signed for United from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020 and quickly became an integral part of the team.
Fernandes is now considered one of the leaders in the dressing room.
With Harry Maguire dropped to the bench, Erik ten Hag handed the captain’s armband to the Portuguese.
In a recent interview with the club’s media, Fernandes revealed he wants to stay at United.
He said: “I want to be here for many years. I want to have some stability for my family.
“We like to be here – we like to be in this country, we want to have the family established here and the kids growing up here, having their friends, being happy.
“That’s the most important thing for us.
Bruno Fernandes is key to Manchester United’s future
The 28-year-old wants to stay as long as possible at United.
In 134 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions, he has bagged 50 goals and 40 assists.
This highlights how impressive he has been since his arrival, despite United’s struggles.
He influences games by directly getting involved in goals and urging his teammates to step up.
The club did a great job awarding him a new deal in March this year.
United need personalities like him to get back to the top.
The new four-year deal will keep him at the club until the summer of 2026.
Fernandes will lead the team tomorrow against fierce rivals Manchester City as Maguire is out of the squad due to an injury.
He will have a significant role to play, both as an attacking threat and as a leader as United strive to carve out a positive result against the in-form Cityzens.
