Shoppers left baffled as huge Christmas tree is put up on busy London street – three months early
WE HAVEN’T EVEN got Halloween out of the way yet some are already decorating for Christmas.
And shoppers were left baffled when they spotted a huge 30ft Christmas tree already up on a busy street in Hackney, London.
The 30ft tree has already been decorated with baubles, tinsel and a silver star on top, three months early.
At first, many thought it was the local council who put the festive tree up early, as they took to Twitter to ask what was going on, reported Metro.
One shopper said: ‘Quick question…is 3 months too early for putting up a Christmas tree in hackney central? I think so! Why??’
Another said: ‘Why does Hackney have their Christmas tree and stalls up.. in September?!!?’

A third wrote: “So part of Mare Street, Hackney is in full on Christmas mode and quite frankly is freaking me out.”
While many speculated the council had put the tree up early (86 days to be exact), that wasn’t the case.
Mayor of Hackney, Philip Glanville put minds at rest and confirmed to one shopper it had only been put up while a shop filmed a Christmas advert.
He said: ‘It’s Christmas Ad shoot for a well-known business.’

But it isn’t uncommon for places to start celebrating early as some shops are already stocking Christmas grub.
Morrisons has been stocking Christmas pudding and mince pies since August, when the Uk was experiencing a heatwave.
