WatchTime New York 2022 is making its seventh annual return to Midtown Manhattan’s Gotham Hall in a few short weeks, with the incredible horological event spanning three days from October 21-23. Each day is dedicated to showcasing some of the most sought after releases from the past year from over 30 brands, giving you a chance to go hands-on with some incredible timepieces and make great connections with industry professionals. Swiss watchmaker Oris is joining the impressive list of attendees, showcasing its new ProPilot X Calibre 400, and once more positioning itself to make a splash with its impressive, fan-favorite catalog.
The new ProPilot debuted earlier this year, at the time causing headlines in its use of the Oris in-house caliber 400 that the brand introduced in June of 2021. The movement quickly set a new standard for the brand, and this newest release combines a simplistic, yet refined design with the popular mechanical movement.
For the new ProPilot X Calibre 400, the movement is housed in a 39mm titanium case. The multi-piece case features satin and sandblasted finishes for a multi-textured surface. Following suit, the fluted bezel contrasts the smoothness of the main case. The reverse of the case displays the internal mechanism that is a main feature of the model.
The watch is available in three colorways, each with a distinct dial color though all three share the same case design. The dial color options are gray, blue, and salmon, and each features 12 geometric indices and a date window at 6 o’clock. The gray dial features black indices while the blue and salmon dials have metallic indices and hands.
The Calibre 400 is the second movement to be developed in-house by Oris following the Calibre 115. It is an accessible movement with a 120-hour power reserve as well as a long service interval of ten years. Though the Calibre 400 offers half the power reserve of the Calibre 115’s 10-day capability, it boasts a high resistance to magnetic fields and is reliably accurate.
The Oris ProPilot X Calibre 400 in gray, blue, and salmon retail for $4,300. All three designs are available for purchase at select retailers and via the brand’s website.
