Houthis Report 182 Ceasefire Violations By Saudi-led Coalition In Two Days
The Saudi-led coalition and its proxies violated the ceasefire in Yemen 182 times between September 23 and 24, according to the Houthis (Ansar Allah).
A military source of the group told the Sanaa-based Saba News Agency that the violations included 47 sorties of coalition’s reconnaissance and combat drones over the provinces of Ma’rib, Taiz, Hajjah, al-Jawf, Saada, al-Dali, al-Bayda, al-Hudaydah and along the border with Saudi Arabia.
A group of Saudi-backed forces also made and attempt to infiltrate positions of the Houthis in the district of Maqbanah in Taiz.
According to the source, 101 of the violations consisted of shooting attacks that targeted Houthi positions and civilian homes in Ma’rib, Taiz, Hajjah, Saada, al-Dali, al-Hudaydah and on the border.
The remaining 33 ceasefire violations consisted of artillery strikes by Saudi-backed forces on Houthi positions on several frontlines in Yemen.
The ceasefire in Yemen, which was brokered by the United Nations, entered into effect on April 2 and was set to end two months later, on June 2. Nevertheless, it was extended two times, first until August 2 and then until October 2.
The Houthis claim that the Saudi-led coalition and its proxies have carried out 33,149 violations since the start of the ceasefire. According to the group, 13,899 of the violations took place in al-Hudaydah.
Despite the repeated violations by the Saudi-led coalition and its proxies, the Houthis are not escalating. The group itself was accused by Saudi-backed forces of violating the ceasefire on several occasions. Neither of the two sides appears to be planning to the abandon the ceasefire. The UN is currently working to improve the conditions of the ceasefire as well as to extend it beyond October.
