Charles gives boopster on the flooftster to Paddington Bear in The Queue
This is the moment King Charles booped a Paddington Bear on the nose after he surprised crowds on Lambeth Bridge.
And one familiar face caught Charles’ attention.
A woman was holding a cuddly toy of the famous bear – who’s become closely associated with the Queen – which was then booped on the nose by Charles.
A booping is a phrase given to a gentle tapping on the nose – usually on cute puppies or kittens.
During the same greeting, a woman was overwhelmed meeting Charles and revealed the new monarch had previously awarded her an MBE.
She told him: ‘I’m so sorry for your loss. You gave me my MBE. I was going to wear them today but I didn’t bring them and I should have done because you gave it to me, sir.’
A second woman offered her condolences, while another shouted: ‘I can’t believe this.’
Several also shouted ‘God Save the King’ and ‘God Save the Prince of Wales’ as Charles and the new heir to the throne moved down the line.
His Majesty visited a police station in south London earlier today.
At Lambeth police headquarters he spoke with staff and met those involved in the security planning of events during the mourning period.
Ahead of the Queen’s state funeral on Monday he thanked emergency services for their around-the-clock efforts.
According to sources, the funeral is expected to be ‘the largest international event that the UK has hosted in decades, possibly ever’.
