I lost my girlfriend because I refused to show her more affection

DEAR DEIDRE: NOW that she’s gone, I realise that I didn’t show my ex-girlfriend enough love or affection.

I would do anything to win her back, but she says even though she still cares for me, that her head is ­telling her to move on.

I’m 27 and she’s 25. We were together for five years and lived together for the last three.

She moved out last month because she says I took her for granted and made her feel unloved and unattractive.

I realise I probably didn’t hug or kiss her enough, or tell her how much I loved her, because I was scared of rejection after being hurt in the past.

Now I’ve lost the best thing in my life. I’m gutted.

How can I change her mind and show her what she means to me?
