It’s on this morning

Hello Friends,

The point was at full capacity before 0700 this morning thanks to a combination of sunny skies, a light westerly breeze and 1.8 metres of 14-15 second south swell. Wave faces on sets looked to be solidly head high, if not a bit bigger. And not many were getting through the hungry crowd unscathed. The long period meant the beach was lining up and shutting down on the bigger sets. There were a few folk amongst it, but their numbers tell the story of just how challenging it was to find something makeable.

Tide was coming in to the 1.6m high at 1050. Water is clean pretty much everywhere according to Beachwatch, which also reported a temp of 18C. Weather should be partly cloudy with a sunny afternoon. Wind should be variable before lunch and then go around to the NE this afternoon.

The swell looks like sticking around all day and while it’s due to fade back a bit tomorrow, the more hopeful predictions show the energy persisting in the surfable range for the early on Saturday.

Take your Aloha attitude if you’re jumping in because with the best spots will be busy today.

Have a good one!
