SCHOOLS will be closed on the day of the Queen’s funeral.
Monday 19 September will be a national bank holiday to honour the late monarch, it was announced at the weekend.
In the same way as other bank holidays, most businesses will shut.
That includes kids going to school, who won’t be expected to be in class on Monday.
But schools will remain open for the rest of the official period of mourning this week.
And they will return to school on the Tuesday after the funeral.
King George VI’s funeral was not a bank holiday, but the government wants to help give as many people as possible the opportunity on the day of the State Funeral to mark Her Majesty’s passing and commemorate Her reign.

Firms are being urged to give workers the day off they can – but it’s up to employers.
There has been no decision yet made on whether the bank holiday will take place every year.
