Chun-Wei Liu and Chieh-Hsi Huan combined for seven RBI in Chinese Taipei's 13-2 win over Australia, in five innings, on the third day of competition at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup. The second-ranked team in the world grabbed their second win of the tournament to remain undefeated.
Defending champs Chinese Taipei tallied 10 hits at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, Florida. Hsin Chiu (2), Chih-Yu Chen (4) and Chun-Wei Liu (4) scored 10 of Chinese Taipei’s 13 runs from the top-three spots in the order.
Yi-Lei Sun started for Chinese Taipei and tossed three innings giving up three hits, one run and two walks. Yen-En Wang was credited with the win in one relief inning.
For Australia, the losing pitcher was Tyson Noel.
Chinese Taipei grabbed their second win of the tournament, and will face Mexico on Monday, in a key game in Group B. Australia will play Japan.
