Thousands have lined the streets to watch the Queen’s coffin arrive in Edinburgh, where she will lie in state before continuing the journey to her final resting place.
Countless well-wishers stood solemnly on the Royal Mile to pay their respects to the late monarch on Sunday.
Claps and cheers had broken out across Scotland as a procession made a 175-mile, six-hour journey from Balmoral.
A sombre-looking Princess Anne followed behind in a limousine, along with husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, after staying to accompany her mother.
The Duke of York, and the Duke and Duchess of Wessex, were filmed receiving the coffin at the Palace of Holyroodhouse where it will remain overnight.
The cortege received a guard of honour by the King’s Bodyguard for Scotland (Royal Company of Archers) as it was carried inside the palace.
Political leaders had assembled to pay their respects when the coffin passed the Scottish Parliament – including First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and Scottish Tory leader Douglas Ross.
Six gamekeepers were seen saying their last goodbyes at Balmoral earlier after Her Majesty’s body remained at her beloved Scottish estate for three days after her death.

Draped with the Royal Standard of Scotland and a wreath of the Queen’s favourite flowers, her coffin had travelled at a stately pace through Ballater, Aberdeen, Dundee, and Perth.
Heavy emotion could be felt in the air as the hearse passed through different Scottish towns, with some crowd members shouting ‘thank you’.
Flowers were thrown, while some people teared up as they spoke about what Her Majesty meant to them.
Elizabeth Taylor, from Aberdeen, said: ‘It was very emotional. It was respectful and showed what they think of the Queen.
‘She certainly gave service to this country, even up until a few days before her death.’
Gillian Nicholl travelled from St Andrews to gather near the A90 outside Dundee with her children Romy, 22, and Freya, 15.
‘It went very still and it was very atmospheric’, she said. ‘I have never seen such a large crowd go so quiet. It was very sombre, there was a wee clap but it didn’t feel right.’
The First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, paid tribute to the Queen, calling her ‘extraordinary’.
In a tweet, she said: ‘A sad and poignant moment as Her Majesty, The Queen leaves her beloved Balmoral for the final time.
‘Today, as she makes her journey to Edinburgh, Scotland will pay tribute to an extraordinary woman.’
Mourners will be able to view the Queen’s coffin at St Giles’ Cathedral from 5pm on Monday.
There will be a procession from the Palace of Holyroodhouse up the Royal Mile to St Giles’ cathedral tomorrow.
Her Majesty will lie in state at the cathedral for a day, before being flown to RAF Northolt at 6pm on Tuesday.
