Report: Club ‘regret’ that star player left to join Tottenham this summer
CalcioMercato claim that Inter Milan ‘regret’ allowing Ivan Perisic to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer on the back of the Croat’s impressive start to life in North London.
Perisic was the first of the seven new signings to arrive through the doors of Hotspur Way this summer, with the experienced wide-man joining on a free transfer after his contract with Inter ran out.
The 33-year-old reunited with Antonio Conte, who was responsible for converting him into a world-class wing-back at the San Siro.
Perisic has started three of Tottenham’s six Premier League games so far this season as well as their Champions League season-opener against Marseille (Transfermarkt).
The Croatian international registered his third assist of the season on Wednesday as his inch-perfect cross was turned home by Richarlison to send the home side on their way to a 2-0 win.
On the back of his performance against Marseille, CalcioMercato write that Perisic is becoming ‘increasingly important’ at Spurs and that Inter ‘regret’ not being able to hold on to him.
The report explains that the Nerazzurri are struggling to find a similar option who can have the same sort of impact from wing-back.
It is suggested that seeing Perisic succeed at Tottenham under Conte is a bitter pill to swallow for Inter fans, particularly given the club’s poor start to the season.

We have not yet seen the best of Perisic at Spurs, which is only normal as he is likely to take a few months to adapt to his new teammates and a new league.
However, he has already demonstrated that he e a major attacking threat down the left, owing to his ability to dig out fantastic crosses with either foot.
Having Kane and Richarlison in the box, with someone of Perisic’s crossing ability on the left, is going to be a nightmare for defences to deal with this season.
