Gogglebox fans question why show is much shorter than usual – but there’s a very good reason
GOGGLEBOX fans have questioned why tonight’s show was just 45 minutes long.
The Channel 4 hit – which shows people watching the week’s TV – provided some much-needed relief to fans.
But some wanted to know why Gogglebox‘s running time had been slimmed down to three-quarters of an hour.
One asked: “Just seen how long #Gogglebox is on for tonight and 45 minutes isn’t right, what the hell!”
Others tweeted: “Why’s this only 45 minutes!?” and: “Only 45 minute episode??”
But as some pointed out that, in common with Britain’s main broadcasters, Channel 4 wasn’t showing any adverts.
That means the show will finish up a lot earlier than its usual 10pm finishing time.

The move had been made since the Queen’s death was announced yesterday – an event that was not referenced on the show because it was filmed earlier in the week.
One viewer tweeted: “For the people who wants to know why it’s only 45 minutes is because they are not showing any ads.”
Channel 4 has been broadcasting rolling news for much of the evening but swapped to an entertainment line-up at 8.15pm.
George Clarke’s Old House New Home was followed by Gogglebox at 9pm.
A double-bill of First Dates then aired at 9.45pm instead of The Last Leg, with those followed by the movie Brassed Off.

Last Leg host Adam Hills said the team on the show decided not to go ahead, saying: “It just doesn’t feel right.
“We’ll pay tribute to Her Majesty next week but for now our thoughts are with her family, and all those affected by the news. We hope you understand.”
BBC One will be airing news and documentaries celebrating the life of the Queen until Sunday morning.
ITV revealed earlier today that it would be breaking off from royal coverage on Saturday night to air some of its big entertainment shows.
The Masked Dancer, The Voice UK and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? will all be shown.
They will be aired after a day of ITV News specials and documentaries about the Queen’s life.
