Man out on bond on gun charge arrested for fatal shooting of another man during robbery

A man out on bond on a gun charge has been arrested for the fatal shooting of another man during an armed robbery in Galewood last month.
Prosecutors say Alexsandro Hernandez, 19, and two other people arranged to meet Irving Ibarez through Facebook to sell him a gun but were actually planning to rob him.
Ibarez, 18, was inside a car in the 2100 block of North Natchez Avenue on Aug. 1 when the three approached, prosecutors said. Hernandez pointed a gun at Ibarez, who put the car in reverse.
Hernandez opened fire and Ibarez was hit in the chest. He was taken to the Loyola University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Hernandez was arrested Tuesday in the 4000 block of West Diversey Avenue and charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of attempted robbery, police said.
Hernandez admitted to detectives that he raised the gun and later threw it in the lake following the shooting, according to prosecutors.
A Cook County judge noted he was out on bond for a separate gun case in Skokie at the time of his arrest.
“As much as I don’t wish to call you a danger to the community at the age of 19, there’s not many other things that I can call you at this time,” the judge said.
