‘He’s a warrior, a fighter’ – Conte full of praise for Richarlison after Fulham win
After a starring role in Tottenham Hotspur’s win over Fulham in the Premier League earlier today, Richarlison has received plenty of praise from his manager Antonio Conte.
Spurs dominated newly-promoted Fulham in a 2-1 win at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and the team were particularly impressive in attacking areas. The home side registered 23 shots throughout the game, with 10 of them on target (Sky Sports).
Richarlison, a new signing at Spurs this summer, made his first start for the club today and was one of the most impressive players on the pitch. The Brazilian provided the assist for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s first-half goal, and could have had one of his own late in the game.
Despite having his goal disallowed for offside after VAR stepped in, Richarlison comes away from the Fulham game having enhanced his reputation at the club. He was given the chance to start by Conte today and will surely be hard to drop after this performance.
In his post-match press conference (via Football.London), Spurs boss Antonio Conte was full of praise for his attacker.
He said: “I’m using him in all three positions up front…as a number 9, on the right, on the left. In previous games he played in Son’s positions and today started in Deki’s position.
“I’m not unsurprised but I’m enjoying [that] he is working a lot to go into our idea very quickly.
“For me, he played in a massive way. He played very well, with personality, with quality. Found difficult passes between the lines.”
Conte added: “[I can] feel his personality, he’s a warrior, a fighter. We need this type of player.”

Richarlison was absolutely outstanding today, and everything good Tottenham did went through him. He brought his incredible energy and aggression, added another assist to his tally, and on another day could have had two goals.
You can see how much this means to Richarlison by his celebration for that disallowed goal, and it’s that kind of passion that has endeared him to the Spurs fans so quickly. With his attitude and adaptability, Richarlison is going to be a key player for Tottenham this year.
