Aaron Rodgers May Have Been High During A Game Against The Bears
Aaron Rodgers will end up in the Hall of Fame five years after he retires. That is indisputable. He may also go down in history as one of the weirdest dudes to ever play quarterback. That becomes clearer with each passing season. The revelation he’s dating a witch added to that reputation. Openly showing his broken toe on the Pat McAfee Show was another. Then was also the time he lied to the media about being vaccinated.
Every time he steps in front of a camera, a new story appears. That was true again during an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience when he admitted he once played a game while high on Percocet.
People were stunned by the admission and immediately got to work trying to figure out which game it might’ve been. After some digging, the widely held belief is it happened in Week 1 of the 2018 season against the Chicago Bears. The evidence is compelling. Early in the 1st half, Rodgers got sacked by Roy Robertson-Harris. He’d injured his knee on that play and was obviously in pain. The Packers were forced to pull him from the game and sent him to the locker room.
Rodgers returned in the second half down 17-0 and proceeded to score 24 points, including three touchdown passes, to pull off a stunning 24-23 comeback win. His knee never looked like an issue during the entire sequence. Watching him during the postgame interview made it easy to understand why.

That is what Percocet is. It’s a form of oxycodone, which is classified as a powerful opioid. Its primary use is pain-killing, which it does really well. However, such drugs come with certain side effects. Two are “confusion” and “unusual thoughts or behavior.” Nobody watching that clip of Rodgers can say he’s 100% in control of his thoughts. The guy is on another continent.
Of course, the quarterback never explicitly stated which game he got high. All we have to go on is circumstantial evidence. Still, everything lines up from the mysterious disappearance of his knee issue after the first half and the googly-eyed interview after the game. It is easy to understand why Aaron Rodgers chose to avoid such treatments in the future. That stuff is dangerous in large doses.
Then again, it would’ve been loads of fun to see him high off his rocker during more games.
