‘Grateful’ – Player sends farewell message after spending two years at Spurs
Marcel Lavinier has sent a message thanking everyone at Tottenham for their help and support after sealing a deadline day move to Swindon Town.
Lavinier joined Tottenham’s academy on a free transfer in October 2020 following his release from Chelsea.
The right-back impressed for the club’s developmental sides last season, making a total of 19 appearances in Premier League 2 over the course of 2021/22 (Transfermarkt).
The youngster’s only first-team appearance for the Lilywhites came under Jose Mourinho against Wolfsberger AC in the Europa League in February 2021.
Football Insider reported a couple of weeks ago that the 21-year-old had rejected a contract offered by Spurs, with his current deal running out in June 2023.
Tottenham subsequently confirmed on deadline day that Lavinier had departed the club and joined Swindon Town.
After completing the switch to the League Two club, the right-back took to social media to state that he enjoyed his two years in North London, and wished the club all the best for the future.

Spurs Web Opinion
While Lavinier is talented, he is not quite at the level needed to be considered a first-team prospect for Spurs. So, this is not a particularly big loss for the club. However, my fear is that the likes of Dane Scarlett and Alfie Devine could follow suit in the coming years if they do not see a clear pathway to the first team.
