"Nope," the new sci-fi horror flick directed by Jordan Peele, is now available to rent from digital retailers like Prime Video, Vudu, and Apple TV. It's also expected to start streaming on Peacock as soon as September 5, but the release date hasn't been confirmed yet.
The film centers on OJ (Daniel Kaluuya) and his sister Emerald (Keke Palmer) as they search for evidence of a UFO on their ranch. This is Kaluuya's second collaboration with Peele. The pair previously worked together on 2018's "Get Out." The movie also stars Steven Yeun, Brandon Perea, Michael Wincott, Wrenn Schmidt, and Keith David.
"Nope" is the third feature film from director Peele, whose first two horror movies, "Get Out" and "Us," were well received. Reviews of "Nope" are positive as well, with critics citing strong performances from Kaluuya and Palmer, Peele's direction, and the premise. As of writing, it has an "83% Certified Fresh" rating on review-aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
"Nope" is now available to watch online through digital retailers like Prime Video, Vudu, and Apple TV. The movie costs $20 to rent in up to 4K quality.
Once you rent "Nope," you'll get 30 days to start streaming the movie and then 48 hours to finish it once you press play. "Nope" will eventually be available to purchase as well, but it's not clear when that option will be added.
Apps for digital retailers are available on most mobile devices, web browsers, media players, and smart TVs from major brands. Check each platform's website before ordering the movie to ensure your device is supported.
"Nope" is expected to stream on Peacock in early September, but an official release date has not been confirmed.
Based on a previous announcement by Universal Pictures, the studio plans to release all of its new 2022 movies on Peacock as early as 45 days after their initial theatrical premieres.
So far, this release strategy has held steady for "The 355," "Downton Abbey: A New Era," "The Bad Guys," and "Ambulance." Notable exclusions include "Jurassic World: Dominion" and "Minions: Rise of Gru," but "Nope" is not expected to be included with these exceptions.
With the typical 45-day window in mind, the earliest "Nope" could hit Peacock is September 5. Once it's available on the streamer, only Premium and Premium Plus members will be able to watch. Premium costs $5 a month and includes ads, while Premium Plus is $10 a month and is ad-free.
Though a release date hasn't been announced yet, you can already preorder "Nope" on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray from retailers like Amazon. Blu-ray editions of the film will also come with a code to redeem a streaming version of the movie.
