Report: Spurs want obligation to buy included in any loan for 19-year-old
Multiple publications in Italy are now reporting that Tottenham are willing to loan Pape Matar Sarr out to AC Milan with an obligation to buy.
Corriere della Sera reported earlier this week that Milan wish to sign Sarr on a loan deal but Tottenham were only willing to sell the midfielder permanently for a fee of around €30m (£25.1m).
The print edition of the same publication (03/08/22 – as relayed by Sport Witness) has now revealed that the Rossoneri have turned their attention to the Spurs midfielder after missing out on Carney Chukwuemeka.
The report asserts that Antonio Conte’s men are insisting that an obligation to buy is included in any loan deal for the 19-year-old.
It is explained that although there are differences between the Premier League club and the Serie A side, the negotiations over the former Metz youngster are ongoing.
This information has also been backed up by Gazzetta dello Sport, who state Milan have asked about taking Sarr on a season-long loan with an option to buy.
However, it is asserted that while Tottenham are happy to allow the Senegal international to leave on loan, they would only do so if there is an obligation to buy attached to the deal.
Spurs Web Opinion
It does not make much sense for Spurs to insist on an obligation to buy Sarr, given that the midfielder is only 19 years of age and still has plenty of time to develop into a top player.
Perhaps, Conte and his coaching staff have taken a close look at the teenager over the past month and have not been impressed with what he offers.
However, it does seem quite harsh to judge a teenager like Sarr, who is new to the club and only now getting to know his teammates and the staff.
