Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison Refuses to Defend Pro-Life Laws Protecting Women and Babies
Today the cause of life in Minnesota faces a setback. Attorney General Keith Ellison has decided that he will no longer defend the commonsense pro-life laws that were recently struck down by an extreme district court ruling.
That ruling means that no longer does Minnesota require parental notification prior to abortions performed on minors. No longer does Minnesota ensure that women receive informed consent information before they undergo the procedure. No longer do those performing surgical abortions have to be physicians.
These longstanding and woman-empowering laws—which have helped save thousands of unborn lives—have been struck down, and the attorney general has decided to stop defending them. Gov. Tim Walz, meanwhile, continues to pledge his commitment to no-limits abortion.
