A TRAIN has derailed near a Georgia air force base with shocking footage of cars flipped on their sides and reports of chemicals leaking.
Warner Robins Police Chief John Wagner said officers are working on the incident but no other details are available at this moment.
It’s unclear if there are any injuries at this time.
The Georgia Department of Transportation announced several lane closures because of the incident.
“Traffic Alert!!! Highway 247 north and south bound between MLK and North Davis Drive is shut down due to a train derailment,” said Warner Robins Police on Twitter.
Video on social media shows several train cars flipped on its side.
“Looks like a bomb went off,” said the person taking the video as they drove past the scene.
“Please be advised: The Watson Blvd. and Green St. gates are closed, as well as portions of Hwy 247, due to an off-base incident,” read a statement from the Robins Air Force Base on Facebook.
“Alternate routes are advised. The Russell Pkwy Gate remains open.”
