Antonio Conte has revealed that his decision to remain at Tottenham was made simple as soon as he had a conversation with the club’s hierarchy at the end of last season.
Conte seemed unwilling to commit his future to the club even after Tottenham sealed Champions League qualification in their final game of the 2021/22 season.
The Italian was insistent that he needed to have a conversation with Fabio Paratici and Daniel Levy about the club’s ambitions moving forward (Football.London).
Tottenham have shown that they mean business in the summer transfer window, having made five new additions so far, and with reports indicating more are expected to follow (Evening Standard).
In his interview with Spurs TV on Monday, Conte spoke in glowing terms about the new additions to the squad.
The Italian has now stated that it was an easy decision for him to continue at Spurs as the club is as ambitious as he is.
When asked why he stayed, Conte told The Daily Mail: “I always said that at the end of the season it was very important for me to speak to the club and the club to make the decision.
“It was very simple to continue this project because first I have another year of contract and we have just started this project with the club. You know very well my ambitions.
“I think last season to finish in the top four was a great achievement for us all but I think we have just started. We need time and patience, but it will be important to be stronger than in the past. I have ambition and it is the same for the club.”

I have never agreed with the section of the Spurs fan base who accuse Daniel Levy of lacking ambition.
If he did lack ambition, he would certainly not be appointing managers like Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, knowing full well how demanding they can be.
From what Conte has been saying over the last couple of days, it is clear that the Italian’s vision is being backed fully by the club.
