Barcelona keeping tabs on Aston Villa and England wonderkid Carney Chukwuemeka as 18-year-old enters final year of deal
BARCELONA have reportedly taken a “serious interest” in Aston Villa’s teen star Carney Chukwuemeka.
The La Liga giants see believe the midfielder has “huge potential”, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The starlet is in the final year of his contract with Steven Gerrard‘s Villans.
Romano explains he would be available in January for the price of Fifa training compensation.
That means any new club would have to pay Villa a to-be-determined sum to cover his training and education to this point of his career.
A report by Mundo Deportivo says Barca have “reactivated interest” in Chukwuemeka, suggesting they have been keeping tabs on him for some time.

Mundo say representatives from Barca met with peers from Villa to discuss the goal-scoring midfielder in May.
Chukwuemeka cut his teeth in Northampton’s academy before moving to Villa Park in 2016.
He made his senior debut for Villa in August 2021 in a 1-1 with Brentford.
He gave a performance that Arsenal legend Paul Merson described as “outstanding”.

Chukwuemeka was born in Austria, has Nigerian parents and has represented England up to Under-19 level.
He is eligible to play for the senior national teams of any of those three countries.
