Spurs confirm 69-year-old has joined Antonio Conte’s coaching staff
Tottenham Hotspur have now confirmed that Gianni Vio has joined Antonio Conte’s staff as set piece coach ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
Vio, who was formerly a banker at Unicredit in Venice, has worked in an advisory capacity with the likes of Leeds United, Brentford, AC Milan, Fiorentina and Palermo in his career.
The 69-year-old has been working with the Italian national set-up for the past two years.
According to The Sun, Vio has created 4,830 set-piece unique routines that teams can use, and wrote a thesis called ‘Set pieces: the 15-goal striker’, which later influenced the best-selling book ‘That Extra 30 Per Cent’, authored by Rob Yeung.
TuttoMercatoWeb’s chief editor Marco Conterio reported last week that the experienced Italian was set to link up with Conte at Tottenham ahead of the new campaign.
Spurs have now officially confirmed that Vio would be joining Conte’s coaching staff from the Azzuri set-up with immediate effect.
