THE Chase fans were gobsmacked by a ‘cheeky’ player who swore during Wednesday’s show.
Players Chris, Matt, Judith and Heather went up against Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha, but proved unable to beat the quizmaster.
Matt was the fourth player up to the podium and opened up to host Bradley Walsh that he wanted to spend any winning on building himself a ‘man cave’ at home.
He described how he had four dogs and Bradley asked him if they were “girl dogs or boy dogs.”
“We’ve got three boys and one bitch,” Matt replied.
While using the term for a female dog is allowed pre-watershed, fans at home blushed at hearing the word ‘b**ch’ during the day.
“Clearly just wanted to say “B**ch” on daytime TV,” wrote one fan on TV.
Another added: “Can’t believe he just said b**ch at this time.”
And a third wrote: “He just wanted to say b**ch on telly.”
Media regulator, Ofcom has a Broadcasting Code dictates strict rules about what can be shown on TV before the 9pm watershed.
The watershed was designed to protect children from ‘unsuitable material’, including swearing, sexual content, violence or graphic imagery.
The media regulator issued a reference guide for broadcasters for non-discriminatory words and placed them on a sliding scale ranging from mild to strongest words.
The Chase is a British quiz show which sees players try their hand answering questions against a professional quizzer.
Their job is to try and ‘catch’ the contestant, stopping them from winning a cash prize.
A team of four people try and win as much money as possible in their individual go, which is later added to a prize fund.
If the player wins their heat, the money they’ve accumulated goes into a shared pot.
But if they’re caught by the chaser, they and their money are eliminated.
The remaining players – if they survive – play as a team to win an equal share of the collective pot of cash.
But if all four are caught, how do they fill the last 20 minutes of the show?
As diehard fans will know, this very thing has happened a few times in the past.
Instead of leaving a gaping hole in the ITV show, one caught contestant is nominated by the team and returns to face the Chaser alone.
The prize fund is reset at £4000 and, should he or she win the money, it’s split four ways.

It doesn’t always mean the Chaser is in for an easy ride either.
On 7 February 2013, Chaser Paul Sinha caught all four of his challengers but the nominated player beat him by one point in the final chase.
