SHE initially rubbed viewers up the wrong way but now Love Island fans are backing Gemma Owen to win.
In The Sun’s online poll, the daughter of former football ace Michael Owen came out favourably compared to almost all the other contestants.
Gemma seems to have won over those watching at home, due to being a “girls’ girl” and forming what looks like a genuine partnership with fishmonger Luca Bish.
A TV insider said: “It’s been quite a turnaround for the 19-year-old, who most people viewed as a spoilt celebrity’s daughter when she first came into the villa. Now people have got to see more of Gemma, they are warming to her.”
Our readers were asked a series of questions about the Islanders and the responses were surprising. Asked if they thought Gemma was too young for the show — a criticism levelled at her from day one — more than 63 per cent said, “No, she is a grown woman.”
When asked, “Do you think producers make her seem too serious?”, a resounding 87 per cent agreed.

Meanwhile, after this week’s challenge, almost a third said she was their favourite female Islander compared to her fellow stars, with Indiyah the least popular with just nine per cent.
Fans were less confident about her romance with Luca, with 57 per cent saying it was “heading south”.
But asked which couple Casa Amor spelt the most trouble for, Gemma and Luca polled bottom with six per cent. While Tasha and Andrew got 41 per cent.
Forget those honed physiques, these are the most important figures in the villa.
