‘Genius’ mum shares easy drying hack which means you’ll never have to worry about it raining again
A MUM went viral after sharing her “genius” hack for drying clothes in the garden, whether it rains or not.
The woman combined her garden brolly with her washing line to adapt to the British weather and people are so impressed that she went instantly viral.
Abbie Orphan, 30, was in the garden on a typical summer’s day when – predictably – the sunshine suddenly disappeared and it started to rain.
The mum-of-three, from Middlesex, had just hung out a whole basket of clean washing to dry and had no room for it anywhere in her house.
She was unwinding her parasol and making her way inside when it suddenly dawned on her the garden brolly could serve a more useful purpose.
Abbie decided to manoeuvre her brolly and place it through a gap in her washing line, letting it hang in the air.

And, just like that, she had a space to hang her clean washing which was protected from the rain – without having to use her tumble dryer.
Taking to Facebook to share photos of her invention, Abbie said: “I mean I don’t want to brag, but I’m a genius.

“When English weather changes quicker than you can get your washing inside (a little tip from my house to yours).”
She received an overwhelming response raking in over 10k likes, with people amazed by her incredibly simple but effective idea.

Abbie added: “In typical British fashion it started raining and I had two loads of washing out on my bracket rotary washing line.
“I thought no way have i got any room inside for all of that!
“That’s when a light bulb moment went off in my head and it suddenly made sense to use the parasol as cover.
“The tumble dryer is the most expensive utility to run in the house so avoiding turning it on is such a good money saver.
“To some this might seem so silly and laughable but I just couldn’t stop thinking of what a genius idea it was – so I posted it on a very large Facebook group.
