ANDY MURRAY has revealed he turned down Saudi Arabian millions to play tennis in the controversial nation.
Unlike golfers Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood, Murray has a conscience and a backbone – and refused to play in the Middle East monarchy.
Saudis have pumped vast sums of cash into their LIV Golf project but have only tested the water with tennis.
Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic were set to play in the Kingdom in a stellar exhibition in December 2018 but that was called off due to injury.
Murray, 35, said: “They put on an event in Saudi Arabia a few years ago, and I was offered to play there.
“I know a number of the other guys on the Tour were offered to play.
“I don’t think the player field that went was what they were hoping.
“A lot of the, I’d say, top players and bigger names turned it down. And I personally wouldn’t go and play there.”
To the delight of British fans, Murray gave a clean bill of health heading in Monday’s Centre Court showdown with Australian James Duckworth.
The world No51 injured an abdominal muscle two weeks ago in Stuttgart and pulled out of Queen’s but he says he is raring to go at a 14th Wimbledon appearance.

Murray, who is a father of four, may decide to stay in rented accommodation close to the grounds to beat the London traffic.
The Scot said: “I don’t know if I’m going to stay there.
“I have rented an apartment, which my dad is staying in, but there’s an extra room.
“I mean it’s very close to the tournament or the venue. I may stay there if I have a late finish or an early match.
“We moved houses sort of around Wimbledon time last year. I’m a little bit further away now.
“With what’s been going on with the trains and stuff, traffic has been tricky.
“I don’t want to be in a situation where I’m spending an hour and a half to get here in the car on the way home.

“It’s just to potentially limit the amount of travel and be a little bit closer.
“My dad is a pretty good cook. I’ll probably eat most of my meals here or use one of the apps.”
