Call me old fashioned but at a time when the world is hurtling into recession, when inflation is wrecking global economies, when strikes are threatening to paralyse the country you'd think our MPs would have a bit more to occupy their minds than the portion sizes of the apple crumble in the House of Commons restaurants.
