WBSC Premier12 standout Noah Song is ready to restart his baseball career
After missing the 2020 and 2021 seasons, WBSC Premier12 standout Noah Song, now 25, is ready to return to baseball.
Song finished flight school at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida, USA, and received his wings of gold during a ceremony held on 28 April. He has petitioned the Secretary of the Navy for a waiver that would enable him to complete his service requirement in the reserves.
"Noah was always going to apply for a waiver to convert his remaining service time into reserve duty," Sara Kelm of Lacertus Group, representing Song, told local press. "There really is no news. No decision has been made, and we still don't know if Noah can play or not."
The Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB) picked Song in the fourth round of the 2019 draft. The right-handed pitcher spent two months with the Lowell Spinners at the short-season Class A level before playing for the USA Baseball National Team at the WBSC Premier12 2019.
Song impressed during the Premier12, recording the fastest pitch in the tournament.
He pitched in five games, including the bronze medal game against Mexico, without allowing a run.
He announced his decision to attend flight school and eventually put his baseball career on hold during a Premier12 postgame interview with Jon Morosi.
