Queen pays touching flower tribute to The Sun’s late gardening editor Peter Seabrook
THE Queen stopped in her royal buggy at a memorial to The Sun’s much-loved gardening editor Peter Seabrook.
Peter, who died in January aged 86, had been a regular at the Chelsea Flower Show for 70 years and often gave Her Majesty a posy of flowers — which she always placed on her desk at Windsor or Buckingham Palace.
Yesterday, our gardening editor’s apprentice, Molli Christman, 25, carried on the tradition and presented the Queen with a posy of sweet peas named in Peter’s honour.
The Queen — a fan of the late BBC Gardener’s World presenter – took a sniff of the blooms.
Molli said: “It was a real honour to be able to present the posy to the Queen now Peter is no longer with us.”
Her mum, Val Christman, 61, of Ware, Herts, worked with Peter for 25 years on his Chelsea exhibitions and created a memorial garden in his honour.

She said: “It was wonderful to see the Queen back with us and she looked so happy.
“She said the memorial to Peter was delightful.
“I know Peter will be looking on proud that his tradition of giving a posy to Her Majesty is continuing, especially in Jubilee year.”
