He shared that after years in the entertainment business, he had a “television first” of his on Sunday night – changing his underwear mid-show.

Telling his talk show audience and co-host Kelly Ripa, Ryan continued about his mishap: “Apparently, America voted and decided there was anatomy in the shot.
“And I said, ‘I didn’t bring any extra underwear.’ He says, ‘Don’t worry, I’ve got mine.’”
At this, Kelly just shook her head side to side and said “no” over and over again.
Ryan told her: “Yes! It was the middle of a live show!”
Getting a bit more specific about his change of attire, he added: “I gotta tell ya, he’s English, so he has shorter, tighter ones.
“So, we go backstage during the commercial, in a little corner, and I’m literally taking off my pants, off my underwear, and putting his on.”
The long-time host said: “Anything for the show! It’s a family show!”
“There was just panic about the underwear, we changed it,” Ryan said. “But that was a television first for yours truly!”
One American Idol viewer caught the moment and tweeted: “I think Ryan forgot his underwear!!! Bwahahahaha”
Another said: “Trying to watch #AmericanIdol and all I can see is a d**k print @RyanSeacrest really??
“All those mirrors and you decided not to look b4 you said, ‘sure, this looks good?’
A third begged: “Get Ryan Seacrest a costume change!”
Not all viewers caught the mishap, though, as many were more preoccupied with what was happening with Ryan higher up on his body.
Fans became worried for the long-time American Idol host after noticing some “concerning” behavior regarding his eyes.
Social media users pointed out that Ryan’s eye was twitching and drooped multiple times during the big broadcast.
Wearing a blue blazer with his hair slicked back, he also appeared to say some words incomprehensibly and wave his hands around at points as he spoke rapidly between acts.
One viewers chimed in: “Am I the only one noticing Ryan Seacrest’s eye again? What’s happening?”
Another asked: “What’s going on with Ryan Seacrest’s eye?? #AmericanIdol”
A third Twitter user noticed: “The way we’re all worried about Ryan’s eye instead of the finale is telling.”
A fourth accused him of mispronunciation, writing: “@RyanSeacrest totally beefing the name of @metheridge’s album.”
During the 2020 finale of American Idol, fans were had similar worries about the busy host.
They began to worry about his health after a segment saw the host slur his speech and appear unable to focus properly.
One tweeted then, “Something is not right with Ryan Seacrest. He’s acting strange. Slurring his words, his right eye dropping.”
At the time, Ryan reportedly considered a permanent move back to Los Angeles as his friends were worried he’s “overdoing it.”
“He has nothing against New York, but he feels that he was healthier in Los Angeles,” a source told Closer Weekly in 2020.
