DALLAS — Golden State forward Otto Porter Jr. limped off the American Airlines Center court to the locker room with trainers mid-way through the second quarter, favoring his left foot.
Shortly after halftime, the Warriors announced Porter would not return for the remainder of Game 3 of the Western Conference finals due to a left foot injury. Coach Steve Kerr said after the game that he got x-rays that came back negative. His status is up in the air.
Porter, 28, had been dealing with pain in his left heel since the Western Conference semifinals, an injury that forced him to miss the Warriors’ Game 6 win against the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Warriors’ forward has been an essential part of Golden State’s attack on both ends. His rebounding and timely shooting has helped the Warriors take a 2-0 series lead over the Mavericks in the Western Conference finals.
Golden State has outscored opponents by a total of 99 points during Porter’s minutes throughout these playoffs, ranking second only to Andrew Wiggins’ plus-100, with an average plus-8.3 per game. Porter is averaging nearly six points per game on four shot attempts and four rebounds per game.
