Goals don’t come easy in soccer. If you’re going to pot one in the back of the net, you’ll need many tricks to lean on.
Few soccer players have as many tricks in their sleeves as Mario Balotelli. The Italian striker has made his career out of incredible, well-timed highlight-reel goals. Where creating a goal comes at a premium for most, it might be routine for him. He didn’t earn the nickname “Super Mario” for nothing.
We saw another example of this as Balotelli’s Turkish Süper Lig club Adana Demirspor took on Goztepe on Sunday. Behind the sizable cushion of a 6-0 lead, Balotelli decided to freewheel in the final third of the field.
The results were spectacular for us and just terrible for his watching defender:
Amazing. Balotelli might as well be nonverbally saying: “Oh, you want the ball? Maybe I’ll make a move here. No, here. No, here. No, here!”
All around, it’s certainly one way to punctuate a five-goal (!) day for Balotelli in a 7-0 win. It looks like Super Mario still has it.
Soccer fans were delighted to see a Balotelli goal making the rounds.
