McAleer Sets Top Time In GT4 America Practice 1 At NOLA
The green #18 RS1 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport of Eric Filgueiras and Stevan McAleer picked up right where they left off yesterday in testing – and over their weekend sweep in the first GT4 America meeting at Sonoma Raceway – as McAleer set the fastest time in Practice 1 at NOLA Motorsports Park.
McAleer got out on track as the session began just before noon. He set a 1’44.300 on his first flying lap, then eclipsed his best time with a 1’43.844, which stood as the top time of the 40-minute session.
Track temperatures rose from around 32°C to upwards of 47°C over the course of the session as the sun beamed down on the 4.4 kilometre circuit.
Second-quickest overall and fastest of the Pro-Am Cup cars was the #2 GMG Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 of Jason Bell and Andrew Davis, with Davis setting a 1’44.425 as the car’s best lap in the session.
The #47 Porsche of locally-based NOLASPORT, driven by Scott Noble and Jason Hart, was third-fastest on the overall leaderboard.
Best of the BMW M4 GT4s was the #52 AutoTechnic Racing M4 of Tom Capizzi and John Capestro-Duvets in fourth…
…and the #8 Flying Lizard Motorsports Vantage GT4 (Elias Sabo/Andy Lee) in fifth.
Sixth overall and second in Silver Cup was the #51 AutoTechnic M4 (Austen Smith/Zac Anderson), followed by the #120 Premier Racing Porsche (Adam Adelson/Elliott Skeer) in seventh, and Pro-Am points leaders Bryan Putt and Kenton Koch in the #15 BSport Racing Vantage GT4, in eighth.
Top of the Am Cup rankings was RS1’s #83 Porsche (Nelson Calle/Juan Martinez) in ninth, ahead of the #36 BimmerWorld M4 GT4 (Charlie Postins/James Clay) completing the top ten.
The #49 Saleen 1 of Eric Curran and Steve Saleen clocked in with the 15th fastest time overall as the sole Invitational entry. Further down the order, the #427 Regal Motorsports Porsche Clubsport MR (Anthony Bartone/Andy Pilgrim) was 26th in its first practice session.
