Rangers skipper James Tavernier Europa League top scorer as he hits SEVENTH in knockout stages
RANGERS skipper James Tavernier is now out on his own as the top scorer in the Europa League.
The Light Blues captain notched his SEVENTH goal of the knockout stages to level the tie against RB Leipzig at Ibrox.
Ryan Kent’s superb driving run and ball across goal was met by the flying full-back at the back post to send the home fans WILD.
The strike just before the 20 minute mark levelled up the aggregate score at 1-1 after the Bundesliga side’s one-goal win in Germany last week.
Glen Kamara then scored from the edge of the box to turn the semi-final tie around inside the opening 24 minutes in Govan as Ibrox erupted into a wall of noise.
Scott Wright’s superb lay off was expertly curled into the bottom corner from the Finland international.
Angelino’s stunning late goal was the difference in the first meeting between the pair.
But Rangers have so far responded in perfect fashion as they bid to reach Seville.
Tav’s goal takes him one strike ahead of Toko Ekambi of Lyon and Porto’s Galeno.
Frankfurt – who are currently in action against West Ham – are represented by Daichi Kamada in the top scorer charts with five goals to date.

Tavernier’s goal also means Rangers are now top goal scorers in the competition with 20 – one ahead of Lyon, Braga and Frankfurt with West Ham two back on 18.
The final takes place in just 13 days time in Seville on Wednesday, 18 May.
