Content Warning: The following article contains spoilers for the Disney+ show Moon Knight and discussions of abuse and trauma.
With only a few days left before Moon Knight's highly-anticipated finale, fans are unsurprisingly coming up with theories and discussing the shocking events from the most recent episode. Some of the characters' best actions in the series so far have been shown in that gripping episode, which include Taweret's bold decision and Steven's heartbreaking sacrifice.
As viewers wait to see what Marc does to turn things around before it's too late, it's the perfect time to look back at some of the bravest and most admirable actions by characters like Layla, Khonshu, and even Harrow. The best among these make a significant and positive difference for the people and the world around them.
The Egyptian goddess Taweret tries her best to guide Marc and Steven after they wake up in the Underworld. At one point, she realizes that the Underworld is in trouble, as souls are being sent before their time – she decides to help Marc and Steven by turning the boat around.
While it's still up to the duo to balance their scales, Taweret crucially steers them towards the gates of Osiris, which is the only path back to the world of the living. She also presumably helps them get a message to Layla about freeing Khonshu so that Marc doesn't return to a body riddled with bullets.
Viewers have only seen brief glimpses of Marc's father, Elias, as it's mostly his abusive mother Wendy who makes a lasting impression on fans (for all the wrong reasons). One small good act Elias does is worth mentioning, though, as Marc recounts how it's his father who calls and invites him to his mom's shiva.
It's not too far-fetched to imagine that Marc would have never even found out about Wendy's death and shiva without Elias. There's also that memorable scene where he tries to invite Marc in when he spots him across the street from his window.
Marc needs all the help he can get to go against the villain Harrow in Moon Knight, which is why it's a good thing Layla is so stubborn. Without her, Marc and Steven likely would have never made it to Ammit's location.
She has protected Steven from Harrow and his goons more than once, as she's a much better fighter than he is. It's also thanks to her that he sometimes reluctantly gives control over to Marc, who then dons his suit to take care of the situation.
It's no secret that Khonshu isn't on the best terms with the gods, and his last stunt with the eclipse did nothing to improve their relationship. This is why most audiences likely knew the huge risk he was taking by turning back time so that Layla could find the exact coordinates for Ammit's location.
Khonshu uses his powerful ability through Steven and it results in a stunning scene. Thousands of years seem to fly past before they reach the precise point in time that they need. Khonshu isn't too shocked when he's imprisoned in his own ushabti soon after.
There are countless fan theories floating around about Dr. Harrow, with several viewers debating whether he's actually Arthur Harrow or a figment of Marc's imagination. Whichever the case may be, there's no denying that Dr. Harrow has played an important role in Marc and Steven's relationship.
He has pushed Marc to reveal the truth to Steven about his origin, no matter how difficult and painful it is to see. Without him, Marc would have likely continued to bury his traumatic past and Steven would have never understood who he really is.
Marc turns into the titular Moon Knight after Khonshu offers him the role during the lowest point of his life. The god's actions are certainly manipulative, but it's hard to deny that Marc has done some good thanks to his powers and the suit.
Without an avatar, Khonshu would likely be unable to stop Harrow in his tracks. The finale is Marc's biggest challenge as Moon Knight yet, but as long as he allows Khonshu to use him again, there's a good chance they'll succeed together.
The most shocking part of the events in the Underworld takes place when the unbalanced souls of the Duat start to overwhelm Taweret's boat. As Steven realizes that he is capable of fighting them, he risks his life to protect Marc. This, unfortunately, leads to him falling off the boat and seemingly losing his life as he's slowly frozen on the sands below.
This isn't the only time Steven has saved Marc's life, as he has arguably been doing this since the start of his existence during Marc's childhood. He has been shielding Marc from his trauma and pain his entire life, which is why it makes sense that he's the one who ends up saving him in the end, too.
