MASTERCHEF fans all said the same thing after the contestants were tasked with viral song challenge tonight.

Friday night’s instalment of the BBC show saw the remaining cooks battle it out for a place in finals week.

To mark the end of the semi-finals, Eddie, Ioan, Olayemi, Pookie, Radha and Sarah were given a very unique task.

Judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace told the contestants: “We here at Masterchef have our very own special anniversary.

“This is 10 years since the release of the single Buttery Biscuit Base. That actually got to number 37 in the charts and along the way raised quite a bit of money for charity.

“To help us celebrate this extraordinary anniversary you’ve been given a brief.

“That brief is to cook a dish inspired by the song Buttery Biscuit Base.”

Fans at home absolutely loved the idea behind the challenge.

One wrote on Twitter: “I can not believe they’re actually playing this!  Honestly my week is made! #butterybiscuitbase #MasterChefUK #MasterChef.”

Another said: “#MasterChef doing a round based on the #ButteryBiscuitBass song – legendary. Absolute TV gold.”

A third chimed in: “Buttery biscuit base! An absolute banger! If you’ve never heard it then you’re clearly uncultured  #MasterChefUK #MasterChef.”

“This is the greatest #masterchef challenge ever ,” a fourth said.

Meanwhile others weren’t amused.

A fifth said: “#masterchef and @BBC demonstrating tonight how desperate they are for challenges for their contestants. Silly challenges taking precedence over looking for the best overall cook..”

Another tweeted: “STOP SAYING BUTTERY. #Masterchef #MasterchefUK.”

A seventh wrote: “Stop saying buttery. Stop playing the song.”

Video editor Swedemason shot to fame in 2011 after he created the popular song.

The tune contains snippets of both John and Gregg’s voice while on the show.
