Jurassic World Dominion Is Already Addressing Your Biggest Dino Complaints
Jurassic World Dominion is already addressing the inevitable complaints about the dinosaurs in the movie. What was shown of the Pyroraptors in the new trailer provides a hint at how the movie will try to avoid criticisms about its creatures. There will likely be moments where their behaviors are perceived as a bit hard to believe, if not utterly ridiculous.
The second full trailer for Jurassic World Dominion provides a deeper look at what comes next for the humans and the dinosaurs in the franchise’s next (and possibly last) installment. Thanks to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’s ending, dinosaurs have been released into the world. Naturally, humans being forced to coexist with genetically engineered dinosaurs is sure to lead to all sorts of unique situations. Some of them have been previewed in the trailers, which show Jurassic World’s characters and returning favorites from the original trilogy dealing with some of the new realities set up by the last movie. Among the threats they’ll be facing over the course of the film include the Spinosaurus, the Quetzalcoatlus, and the Pyroraptors.
While standing over a frozen body of water, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) were attacked by a Pyroraptor. The dinosaur made a surprising move by burrowing into the ice and swimming effortlessly through the water. The dinosaur’s ability to swim has already been met with ridicule, but it appears Jurassic World Dominion may have an answer for this big criticism. In response to what happened, Claire said “that can’t be right”, which reveals that even the characters themselves don’t believe it’s possible for the Pyroraptors to swim like that. This is a sign that the movie will end up coming up with a way to explain the unusual characteristics of Jurassic World Dominion’s dinosaurs.
What’s going on with the Pyroraptors may be indicative of a new approach to the dinosaurs. In other words, other creatures in Jurassic World Dominion’s story may display their own surprising capabilities. For this reason, the sort of complaint that the swimming Pyroraptor is generating won’t be restricted to just that specific dinosaur. But Dominion can tackle this problem head-on by creating an in-universe explanation. These dinosaurs were born from genetic engineering, so science would most likely be at play here.
Genetic changes that have developed from the cloning process could be responsible for the swimming Pyroraptors and other new dinosaur behaviors in Jurassic World Dominion. Since the cloning origin is the backbone of the Jurassic World franchise, it does seem plausible for the movies to use this fundamental aspect of the story to continue taking occasional liberties with certain dinosaur species. Many scenes that may seem silly on the surface could instead be additional consequences of messing with dinosaur DNA.
