MPs call on hauliers to respond to inquiry into fuel duty
The All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Road Freight and Logistics has launched a new inquiry into the impact of fuel duty on road freight and logistics businesses.
The group is calling for industry responses, as rising fuel prices and inflation continue to place huge financial pressures on UK businesses.
The month-long inquiry will examine current fuel duty rates and whether further measures may be required to support the road freight sector, such as the introduction of an essential user rebate, to ensure that the current high fuel prices did not lead to inflationary pressure and impact businesses and consumers.
The APPG’s aim is to engage with key UK stakeholders as well as representatives from international hauliers to see if costs are being passed on and has today (25 April) launched a call for evidence to industry.
The group is inviting anyone associated with a UK haulage business and who is experiencing increased financial pressures as a result of rising fuel costs to respond to the inquiry by filling out the Group’s online survey at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/3YP58B2
The deadline to submit to the APPG’s call for evidence is the 1 May. Businesses or interested parties can also submit additional evidence by emailing info@roadfreightappg.org.

“We know that road freight and logistics underpin our economy and it is vital that the government provide any and all support necessary to protect businesses and to avoid increases in fuel prices fuelling inflation and applying unwanted pressure to businesses across the UK.
“I encourage members of our road freight and logistics industry to respond to our call for written evidence and have their say on this hugely important issue.”
