MANY landlords require that you keep your home clean and tidy.
There’s no better time to spruce up your living space than during the spring cleaning season, and keeping your home in top shape can help ensure you don’t lose your deposit back when it’s time to move out.
Tenant insurance experts from Duuo revealed the 15 most forgotten areas of your home to clean and how to easily tackle them.
The expert recommended removing stovetop grease from the hob using a grease-busting spray along with a scratch-free scrubber and then using a damp microfiber cloth to rinse it down.
For stainless steel hobs, they said to use a stainless steel spray with a microfiber cloth to leave a streak-free finish.
For washing your windows, the expert suggested making a mixture out of warm water, white vinegar, and dish soap.

Using a spray bottle, they said to spray the mixture onto the glass and use a damp sponge to wash the surface.
After covering the entire surface, rinse the suds off using water followed by a window squeegee to remove access water from the glass.
To properly wash your dishwasher, the expert said to carefully take out any removable parts and soak them in dish soap.
To wash the inside of the machine, they said to use warm water and dish soap.
After the parts are cleaned, they said to return them to the inside of the machine and add a cup of white vinegar to the dishrack, as well as sprinkle a cup of bicarb into the machine.
They then advised running the dishwasher on a clean cycle.
To remove stains from your carpets, the expert first said to remove any surface dirt from the carpet.
Using your favorite carpet stain remover, they said to apply the product to the stain, scrub with warm water, and then follow the directions on the product.
After completing the product’s suggested steps, they said to rinse the area with warm water and let it air dry.
To easily remove stains and smells from the inside of your microwave, the expert suggested chopping up a lemon and placing it in a bowl of warm water.
They said to put the bowl in the microwave and run it for five minutes.
After the five minutes, they said to take out the bowl and wipe the inside of the microwave down to remove any splatter stains.
If the inside still has a strong odor, they said to place a dish of baking soda in the microwave, close the door, and leave it overnight.
To easily remove toilet bowl stains, the expert said to first use a bathroom spray cleaner to clean the exterior of the toilet.
They said to then pour a cup of white vinegar into the bowl and allow it to sit for at least one hour before scrubbing and flushing.
Shower curtains can be home to mold and black spots, making your shower time feel unsanitary.
All you have to do is remove the shower curtain from the pole and soak it for about an hour in warm water and half of a cup of bleach.
After it has soaked, they said to place the curtain in the washing machine and wash on a normal cycle.
To dry, they said to hang the shower curtain back on the pole and just let it air out.
The expert then suggested following Mrs. Hinch‘s oven cleaning story highlight.
She revealed that the best way to clean your oven is by soaking the trays and racks in warm water, soap, and white vinegar for one to two hours before scrubbing.
After soaking, use a grease-busting cleaner to scrub the inside of the oven and remove any grease.
Mrs.Hinch then said to use warm water to remove any suds before returning the trays and racks.
To properly clean out your fridge, first, you’ll want to pull out all of the drawers and shelves and wash them in warm soapy water.
They then said to remove any dirt, stains, and smells by wiping down the interior of the fridge.
To remove any unwanted odors, the expert said to leave a dish of baking soda in the fridge for anywhere as long as one to three days to help absorb the smells.
First, the expert said to start by cleaning your washing machine filter.
They said to place a tray underneath the filter, unscrew it and allow the water and other build-ups to pour out.
Next, you should soak the washing machine drawer in washing-up liquid to help remove grime.
While that soaks, they suggested wiping down the drum with warm water and disinfectant.
To remove any smells, they said to add one cup of white vinegar and bicarb into the drum and run the machine on a warm cycle.
Though often forgotten about, lampshades and other light fixtures are major dust traps.
The expert suggested dusting the shade, lightbulbs, and light fixtures to easily remove any layers of dust.
To clean your curtains the expert first suggested feather dusting the pole and pleats.
For removing odors, they said to mix warm water with half a cup of white vinegar and put it in a spray bottle to spray down the curtains.
If you’re giving your curtains a deeper clean, they said to take them down and wash them on a gentle or silk cycle.
After they’ve been washed, they suggested air-drying the curtains to prevent getting any creases.
If your curtains do have any stubborn creases, they said to iron them on low heat.
To deep clean your skirting boards, the expert said to dust them using a dry microfiber rag and then scrub away using a mixture of dishwashing liquid and warm water.
If you only have to tackle a thin layer of dust, they said to use a tumble dryer sheet to dust them off and leave your room with a refreshing scent.
To clean up your kitchen and bathroom cabinets, the expert said to simply tidy up the inside and then wipe down the frames and doors.
Since your kitchen cabinets can easily be hit with grease and oils, they suggested using a wet rag and grease-busting spray on the surface before wiping away.
Finally, the experts said to pay close attention to the showerhead in your bathroom as it can easily build up limescale and grime.

To tackle it, they said to remove the showerhead and soak it for one hour in a cup of white vinegar.
After removing the solution from the head, they said to scrub using an abrasive scrubber and rinse well with warm water before reattaching it to the shower.
