‘Three people shot in northwest Washington DC near school’
Three people were reportedly shot near a school in Northwest Washington, DC, on Friday afternoon.
The shooting was reported on the 4100 block of Connecticut Avenue NW, around 3.28pm, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
It occurred near the Edmund Burke School, according to FOX 5.
The three victims found included a juvenile female and two adult males, authorities said. Their conditions were not immediately known.
The University of DC’s Van Ness campus was placed on lockdown and students and staff were told to shelter in place.
‘Police are currently conducting sweeps in the area and are urging residents in the Cleveland Park and Van Ness area to shelter in place,’ the University of DC tweeted.
‘FOX 5 cameras captured a person at the scene being led away by police in handcuffs. Police have not made it clear who the person was, or how they are related to the incident.’
Police are searching the area and advised residents in the Van Ness and Cleveland Park area to shelter in place.
FOX 5 recorded a person being led away in handcuffs by cops at the scene. However, officials have not revealed the person’s identity or whether it was linked to the shooting.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives tweeted that they were responding to the incident to assist the police department.
