Report: MLS club in talks with Gareth Bale’s agents amidst Tottenham links
MLS side D.C. United are in talks with Gareth Bale’s representatives about a potential move this summer, according to Steven Goff of the Washington Post.

Bale is set to leave Real Madrid upon the expiry of his contract this summer (The Athletic), while there were reports the 32-year-old could retire if Wales do not qualify for this year’s 2022 World Cup (Sky Sports).
The former Tottenham winger has since been linked with a move back to North London, where he spent last season on loan, as well as a possible free transfer to home club Cardiff (Sport).
TuttoMercatoWeb also reported that Bale has already signed a pre-agreement to join Tottenham at the end of the season.
But there have been developments regarding a potential switch to the United States, with Goff reporting that Bale’s agents have been recently contacted by D.C. United.
The two parties have allegedly been ‘exchanging proposals’ of late, while the Black-and-Red held talks a few months ago, which led to a dead end.
The club is reportedly prepared to spend more on wages to lure the Welshman than when they acquired Wayne Rooney in 2018, although it is ‘unclear’ whether such a move will gain traction and the journalist labelled it as ‘far-fetched’.
Bale has been limited for game time at Real this season, registering just 290 minutes in seven appearances across all competitions under Carlo Ancelotti (Transfermarkt).
His last taste of action came in the form of a second-half cameo in the victory over Getafe earlier this month, but was absent from the 3-1 win at Osasuna on Wednesday.

Bale will have a number of clubs interested in picking him up as a free agent this summer, despite the hefty wages he earns.
MLS has seen a number of high-profile names head in its direction in the past, so it wouldn’t be too surprising to see him make that move – depending on how Wales get on in their World Cup play-off.
