BRUISED Rishi Sunak is safe in job until at least the autumn, Boris Johnson said last night.
But the PM refused to give similar assurances for bungling Priti Patel after a series of Home Office disasters.

In a chat with The Sun during his two day visit to India, the PM insisted he hated talking about “personnel”, but said Sunak was safe in his job after a torrid month.
The Chancellor’s ratings have plummeted after his mini-Budget crash landed and his was hit by a major tax row.
When pushed he insisted would be delivering the Budget in October.

But when asked about other leading Cabinet ministers, the PM was more tightlipped, adding: “Let’s talk about what we’re doing and let’s not talk about who’s going to do it.”
After a series of Home Office blunders and failure to stop the small boats crisis, many MPs believe Priti Patel’s tenure was up.
Mr Johnson said she had done an “outstanding job” sealing the Rwanda migrant agreement but he pointedly refused to say she would survive an upcoming Cabinet cull.

Mr Johnson insisted his “rule number one” was “don’t talk about politicians, but talk about what politicians can do for the electorate.”
Asked why Sunak was getting special treatment, Mr Johnson would only say: “Well there you go. Well, c’est la vie.
